Welcome to the Daviess County Family YMCA. We’re part of a nonprofit organization of over 2,700 Ys located in 10,000 communities across the United States dedicated to strengthening the communities that they serve. Our mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
We service Daviess County and all the surrounding counties as well.
The Daviess County Family YMCA was established in 1946 by interested citizens who felt that the area needed a place for youth and adults to socialize and participate in programs of a physical and instructional nature. Money was dedicated for the purpose of establishing a youth center by Amanda Perkins, and with this and private donations, the present building at the corner of Flora and NE Third Street was built in 1946. Over the years the Y has constantly improved its programs and updated its facilities. Today the Y serves as a center for youth and adults alike, striving for Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility.
