The DCEDC's mission is to foster sustainable economic growth and prosperity within Daviess County by attracting, retaining, expanding and creating new businesses that result in job opportunities and investment. The DCEDC is also involved with developing the workforce, and improving the overall quality of life for residents.

Founded in 1990 Indiana needed organized regional support to help distressed or underdeveloped areas via 501(c)(6) structures. DCEDC was established to coordinate tax incentives, enterprise zones, and infrastructure alongside statewide economic strategy.
